Team Rapidclaw face off against the Ragnarr Delvers. It's speed and tails vs brute force and
beards.
Ragnarrs get off to a strong start with a three pointer
scored by the number 7 captain Ironsword.
In a comical side show, Torman Brightblade trips up over a rat's tail
and falls flat on the floor.
Rapidclaw go on offensive with Throl Baredspire, the spikey
number 2, slams Brightblade who is still shaken from his tumble. This opens the pitch for number 5, Zhol
Steeltail, to scrabble up the pitch to try and score but misses.
Gimgram Stonemantle grabs Zhol Steeltail and makes it clear
that entering his strikezone is not a good idea, he snaps his tail and shatters
his back and send him off the pitch for a visit to the medbay. Not to be outdone Hargus Steelhammer grabs
Qhruel Firestriker and headbutts him off the pitch. Odin Steelforge grabs the ball.
Rapidclaw counter with a succession of slams, but the
Dwarven team hold firm.
The Dwarven team move up the pitch guarding the ball, Hargus
Steelhammer trips trying to weave around Throl Barbedspire while Torman
Brightblade is shoved back to the ground trying to get up.
It's a slow and cautious game, very much stuck in the
midfield.
Rapidclaw try to steal the ball but Odin Steelforge dodges
and that's not what the Veer-Myn team wanted.
Steelhammer finally gets to his feet and delivers a stinging
uppercut to Barbedspire. Steelforge
grabs the ball.
Tuet Skullbreaker for the Rapidclaw slams into Steelhammer,
scattering the ball. Zrosqhal Skygrip
scoops up the ball and scores for a 2 pointer.
It's low scoring, but big on heart.
Dwarfs Ironsword and Brightblade struggle to their
feet. Thurokum Coldarm slams Firefang
and they tussle. Torman Brightblade
grabs the ball and throws it to Ironsword, the captain goes for a 2 pointer but
misses. He thumps the ground in
frustration, that was an easy miss.
Rapidclaw number 7, Clawbreath, grabs the ball, throws it to
Firestriker who fumbles.
Delvers 8 and 7 combine to try and make something happen,
Brightblade throws it to Ironsword who scores a 2 pointer. Good link up play by the strikers.
Rapidclaw Firestriker grabs the ball, hurls it to Duskcutter who fumbles, the ball then flip
flops back to 4 who drops it. The
Veer-Myn coach has his head in his claws.
The dwarfs sense opportunity, Steelforge grabs the ball and
throws it to Ironsword the captain, who scores again for 3.
Summary
Rapidclaw have started the season well but today they were
outplayed by the Ragnarr Delvers whose combination of strength and superior
ball control allowed them to claim a win.
