In The Zone Week 2

'In The Zone' is the regular magazine show broadcast across the galaxy on the subspace wavelength on 92.2SUS and can be picked up on any SUB radio system, streamed via smartterminals, subdermal receivers and direct brain implants.

Hosted by Jim Wiezbowski, long standing DSPN sports anchor and regular co-host Mike Spunkmeyer they discuss all the matches, news and rumours of the recent E/WSAPD action.

Joined by adventurous Sphyr roving reporter An'aka Rez'nik who sometimes gets in a little over her hammerhead and joined by weekly special guests, 'In The Zone' is the last word in the league action.

JW: "Welcome back sports fans, it's Jim Wiezbowski."

MS: "And I'm Mike Spunkmeyer."

JW: "You sure are Mike, and welcome to In The Zone, the ONLY subspace Dreadball roundup show worth listening too and the only one brought to you my Nakigawa Heavy Industries, the megacorp that cares about you almost as much as they care about their profits."

MS: "Almost as much, right Jim?"

JW: "Right Mike.  This week we've got a change of fixtures, both the Eastern and Western Spiral Arm Premier Division had a change in fixtures this week, Mike, what was that all about?"

MS: "Well Jim sometimes it becomes necessary due to the stellar alignment to change the fixture lists so teams can shorten the travel distances.  It's rare but it happens on occasion."

JW: "Thanks for that Mike.  So this week we've got two games to talk about, Atletico Tronkers vs Endorian Forest United and Ragnarr Delvers vs Kamino Kinietics.  First up the Zee team from the most famous Forest moon of all time, the Endorian Forest United faced off against Ateltico Tronkers.  Mike, what did you make of this before the teams lined up.

MS: "Well Jim I didn't think the Endorains stood a chance.  They were turned over in their first league game against Clan Stormfang and frankly, I thought they were a bit of a joke.

JW: "Well the game finished six-nil to the Tronkers, but that doesn't tell the whole story does it?

MS: "That's right Jim, the Endorians were much more organised and they showed some spirit out there.  Even when they were down and out they kept coming back, taking the hits and they showed some surprising skill and tactical guile in the closing rushes.

JW: "So perhaps they're turning the corner?"

MS: "I hope so Jim, they're 0 for 2 and that's not good in this league.

JW: "Atletico Tronkers put in a solid performance.

MS: "They did, but they could have shifted gears and killed the game 7-0 if they'd wanted.  I wouldn't say the patronized the Endorians, but they definitely gave them some room.  But you look at the Endorians and they did some surprising thing, the hit on John 'The Legend' Frost was just sensational.

JW: "You heard it in the commentary box."

MS: "Hell I think they heard it back on Earth, it was brutal and who thought the little Zees' had it in them to do that kind of damage.

JW: "Hopefully The Legend will be back.

MS: "He's a tough guy, been around forever, we keep saying this will be his last season but he keeps going. Let's hope we see him again.

JW: "So onto game number two, the Judwan team Kamino Kinetics vs the Ragnarr Delvers.  The Kaminos are another new team and we've only seen them once, even though they lost their first game it was a high scoring game.

MS: "Sure was and you know the difference between the last game and this one from the Kinetics was that they paid attention to their positional play.  In the lower leagues they could just run and score, nobody could catch them, but you can't get away with ignoring your defence in this league and this time they struck a balance."

JW: "The Delvers suffered from a lack of pace, it showed."

MS: "You're so right Jim, I found their lack of pace disturbing to say the least.  They can hit hard, but they couldn't do enough damage quick enough to take out the Kamino front strikers.  That's not to say they didn't try and inflict damage, but they weren't clinical enough with their slamming and when that's so much of your play, you have to do the damage when you have the chance.

JW: "The game was not without controversy as it became clear the Kamino Kinetics should not have been awarded the bonus strike hex points on account of their elongated appendage advantage.  The governing body admitted that rules had not been updated and going forward the rules will be enforced.  Any comment Mike?"

MS: "Just farcical Jim, such  an obvious rule and nobody caught it, heads must roll in the governing body."

JW: "As long as it's not ours, right Mike."

MS: "Back at you Jim."

JW: "Well that's it for this week, we'll be back soon with more Dreadball action, thanks Mike."

MS: "It's a pleasure Jim."

JW: "See you soon on In The Zone, I'm Jim Weizbowski."

MS: "And I'm Mike Spunkmeyer."

JW: "Goodnight."

"In The Zone" is produced by Nakigawa Heavy Industries, your disposable income today, our profits tomorrow."
