In The Zone - Episode 4

'In The Zone' is the regular magazine show broadcast across the galaxy on the subspace wavelength on 92.2SUS and can be picked up on any SUB radio system, streamed via smartterminals, subdermal receivers and direct brain implants.
Hosted by Jim Wiezbowski, long standing DSPN sports anchor and regular co-host Mike Spunkmeyer they discuss all the matches, news and rumours of the recent E/WSAPD action.
Joined by adventurous Sphyr roving reporter An'aka Rez'nik who sometimes gets in a little over her hammerhead and joined by weekly special guests, 'In The Zone' is the last word in the league action.

JW: Well hey there sports fans, I'm Jim Wiezbowski.
MS: And I'm Mike Spunkmeyer.
JW: You sure are Mike, and this is In The Zone.  We’ve been away for the international window and we’ve got a host of games to catch up on as the Eastern and Western Spiral Arm Divisions head towards their run outs.  How was your break Mike?
MS: It was good, I went to a little planetoid called LV426, kind of an adventure safari, really interesting wildlife.
JW: I liked the fridge magnet you got me.
MS: You’re welcome Jim.
JW: So, what do you make of the league setup at the moment?  Any surprises?
MS: Well you know Jim, the leagues are shaping up to an exciting conclusion as we head towards the Dean Cain Memorial Trophy.    The Mega City Eagles are in the lead at the moment and are 3 for 3 but all the top teams have a game to play so it’s only going to take the MCE franchise to lose a game and it’s wide open.
JW: You think that will happen?
MS: It just might, the Mega City Eagles don’t have any real advantage, they’ve just been better, but if the Kaminos utilise their speed advantage in their remaining fixtures against the MCE and Clan Rapidclaw they could leapfrog.  Remember, the Rapidclaw are 0 for 3 and the MCE have already played them, that’s almost a free win for the Kaminos with how they are playing.
JW: What about the other teams in the hunt?  What about the Delvers or the Tronkers?
MS: I don’t think so Jim, I’ve got a feeling the Kamino and the MCE want it more.
JW: I like the look of the Teratons in the Western league.
MS: Oh they look on form and 3 for 3 they’re showing it.  But don’t take their strength as an indication of them winning, Clan Stormfang are 3 for 3 too so it could go either way.  But I think it’ll come down to those two.
JW: How come Stormfang have been so much better than Rapidclaw?  They’re a similar team setup, but Rapidclaw just haven’t performed.
MS: It’s a mystery Jim, maybe the coach has lost the dressing room or there’s some kind of internal strife with the team.  But there’s a huge gap between them and if they meet in the future you wouldn’t bet on Rapidclaw.
JW: Talking of huge gap, the Endorians have finished their games and are only 1 for 5.  You said they weren’t going to do much, and it seems you were right.
MS: Well Jim they’re a real sorry state.  I know Rapidclaw have performed worst in terms of performance across the two leagues, but the Endorians have so little skill, they fumble all the time, they miss catches.  So much of the technical game is missing it’s almost laughable.  I fear for them long term, I just don’t think they can cut in these divisions.
JW: So who are you picking for the Dean Cain Memorial Trophy?
MS: Turion City Terrors vs Mega City Eagles.  And that’s a match Dean Cain himself would relish, he was the best physical player of the game and those two will go head to head physically so if it ends up like that, it’ll be a cracking game.
JW: Still a long way to go though?
MS: Sure, anything could happen, but I don’t think it will.
JW: Well we’ll cover all action here on In The Zone, join us next time, I’m Jim Wiezbowski, goodnight.
